Manufacturing Group Leader

General Motors is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the role of Manufacturing Group Leader. This position is responsible for leading a team of skilled employees to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a team of skilled employees to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and processes.
- Administer National and Local Agreement between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.
- Use independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing Systems, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
- Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Drive accountability through people and processes, which may require difficult conversations in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate a high analytical ability to solve complex problems.
- Conduct appropriate checks and tests, and communicate evaluation of results.
- Recommends solutions to problems.
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions.
- Meets schedule and quality requirements.
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements.
- Implements divisional and corporate policies and safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Maintain frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group.
- Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment.
- Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project.
- Has knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles.
- One year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
- Ability to coordinate, manage, address performance concerns, and lead people in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to solve complex problems and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage conflict and make decisions in ambiguous fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency (i.e. Microsoft Word, typing, email etc.).
- Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, self-directed.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering and Manufacturing Teams.
