The role of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) involves delivering essential medical management in the Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC) at a prominent children's hospital. The practitioner operates within a multidisciplinary academic setting, collaborating with various healthcare professionals including students, residents, fellows, and faculty across medical, surgical, nursing, and allied health disciplines.
Our Newborn Critical Care Center is recognized as one of the leading facilities in the nation, featuring advanced technology and a capacity of 58 beds. It is staffed by a team of board-certified neonatologists, nurse practitioners, and a wide array of neonatal specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will be part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients within your scope of practice, in collaboration with supervising physicians. You will be responsible for:
- Clinical Duties: Conducting comprehensive health assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans. You will maintain detailed records of patient care and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices.
- Patient Education: Effectively communicating with patients and families about medical conditions and treatment options. You will also provide educational resources to healthcare staff and promote continuity of care.
- Leadership: Offering guidance and instruction to medical staff and participating in community outreach initiatives. You will play a role in improving healthcare delivery systems.
- Professional Conduct: Interacting with patients and colleagues in a respectful manner, ensuring timely responses to patient needs and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Quality Improvement: Engaging in continuous quality enhancement initiatives, leading interdisciplinary teams, and developing new clinical programs to improve patient care.
Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider program.
Licensure: Must hold a valid license as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina, with board certification as required.
Experience: No prior experience is necessary.
Skills: Strong clinical competencies, effective leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
