Job Title: Global Studies Lecturer

Auburn University is seeking a 9-month non-tenure track appointment as a lecturer of Global Studies (95% teaching, 5% service), renewable annually based upon need, funding, and performance.

Job Summary

The position is housed in the College of Human Sciences Office of Global Education and involves teaching 3-4 sections of undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas each semester: Global Studies in Human Sciences; Development Practice; Study Abroad; Professional Development; Global Studies Internships.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Global Studies, Development Practice, and related fields
  • Advise undergraduate students and be an active team member within the program
  • Be actively involved with industry and relevant professional associations
  • Be actively involved in the work of the Office of Global Education
  • Advise global studies clubs and honor societies

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Global Studies, Sustainability, Human Sciences, or related field at the time employment is scheduled to begin
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed duration of appointment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English and possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Ph.D. desired
  • Experience teaching in global studies, hunger studies, sustainability, or related field
  • Professional experience in development
  • Interest in interdisciplinary teaching initiatives
  • Experience with active learning and flipped classroom teaching methodology
  • Experience with distance education
  • Experience with study abroad
