Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  1. Providing clinical support to patients and families, including assessing patients, performing clinical procedures, and maintaining accurate records.
  2. Coordinating referrals to other medical services and securing consultations and specialists as needed.
  3. Triaging phone calls and addressing patient portal messages in a timely and efficient manner.
  4. Obtaining prior authorization for medications and diagnostic testing, and coordinating with pharmacies to ensure patients have adequate supplies of medicine.
  5. Assisting physicians with medical and surgical procedures, and maintaining quality assurance for office lab procedures.
  6. Observing universal precautions and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
  2. Licensure by the State of Tennessee.
  3. At least one year of experience in a medical office environment.
  4. Competency in the use of medical equipment, including glucometers, BP cuffs, thermometers, and stethoscopes.
