This role entails delivering high-quality virtual instruction within the Advanced Placement Academy, aimed at fostering academic growth for students in designated grades and subjects, equipping them for success in a modern workforce.


Key Responsibilities:


Creates an engaging virtual learning atmosphere tailored to the developmental needs of students; prepares instructional materials for assigned virtual courses to accommodate various sections and/or subjects, ensuring readiness for delivery from any location, and provides documentation of preparation to supervisors as needed.


Employs the College Board approved curriculum (video lessons are highly recommended for student review) and develops lesson plans and instructional resources that cater to the diverse needs of students, aligning with state, school, and College Board standards based on students' educational, physical, and emotional development.

Maintains a digital platform for the distribution, submission, and evaluation of student assignments.

Evaluates virtual student submissions to assess progress and adjust instruction to ensure readiness for the AP exam.


Facilitates various virtual classroom groupings (using breakout rooms) and encourages higher-order thinking skills (analysis, synthesis).

Demonstrates effective classroom management through evaluations and innovative virtual teaching strategies.


Instructs students using virtual educational methodologies to enhance development in sensory skills, perception, memory, written communication, online interaction, and cognitive abilities.

Establishes and upholds standards of virtual conduct that promote high levels of student engagement.

Inspires students and consistently reinforces learning skills while providing ongoing assessment and feedback for all virtual educational activities.


Evaluates student achievements on a predetermined schedule and communicates progress through written and verbal reports to parents/guardians, supervisors, and management; administers practice AP exams in both virtual and in-person formats, adhering to College Board testing security protocols, to prepare students for the AP exam.

Collaborates with parents and relevant support staff to design educational programs for students.

The support staff will provide training for educators and will monitor and assist by communicating through email, phone, and observations while offering constructive feedback and improvement goals.

Guides current AP educators and those in training for AP courses. Mentoring includes observing and providing content-specific feedback and resources to enhance teachers' capabilities.

Maintains accurate and comprehensive records as mandated by law, district, and school policies.

Possesses advanced and specialized subject knowledge, exceeding the bachelor's degree level.


Engages in professional development opportunities (both within and outside the district) provided by the organization, College Board, and as required to maintain teaching credentials.

Demonstrates growth in student learning outcomes and leadership in professional development initiatives.

Assists administration in enforcing all policies and regulations governing online student behavior.

Performs additional related duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications:


Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in Education and an endorsement in the relevant grade/subject area, along with a valid teaching certificate.

Adheres to the Rules and Regulations of the applicable educational code and collective bargaining agreements. Previous experience in virtual instruction is preferred. Familiarity with Canvas Learning Management System and Microsoft Teams is advantageous. Proficiency in operating a computer, utilizing relevant software applications, and managing video recording equipment is required.

(EVIDENCE OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY).

Degree Equivalency:
Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required experience.

Master's Degree= 2 years plus required experience preferred. Where Master's degrees are required, Bachelor's degree experience must be included.
