ERM is seeking to enhance its Infrastructure Service line within the M&A team by recruiting a seasoned leader to take on the role of Technical Consultant. You will collaborate with Partners across the M&A team to provide Transaction Advisory Services to financial institutions and infrastructure operators. Your role will involve close cooperation with infrastructure funds, private equity firms, investment banks, and energy companies to deliver technical due diligence services on both buy-side and sell-side projects, as well as project financing transactions.

Position Overview

The M&A division at ERM currently comprises a core team of over 50 consultants who deliver technical, ESG, and EHS due diligence services. In response to rising client demand for our involvement in additional projects, we aim to further expand this offering within the infrastructure service line.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of proposals, which will encompass the development of our company profile, scopes of work, scheduling, and commercial terms.
  • Assist or lead projects that provide clients with a comprehensive evaluation of their proposed investments in infrastructure assets, focusing on technical, operational, and business planning aspects.
  • Coordinate typical project deliverables, including Q&A submissions, management sessions, client meetings, and report delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical communities within ERM and subcontractors identified as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to facilitate project delivery and client engagement.
  • Engage in internal development tasks aimed at enhancing the functionality of the infrastructure service line.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be considered for this role at ERM, candidates should demonstrate the following essential skills and, where applicable, desirable attributes.

Essential Skills:

  • A robust academic background with an engineering focus (e.g., Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering).
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in technical consulting, engineering, or operational roles within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to identify risks and opportunities within technical documentation, site evaluations, and discussions related to asset integrity, operational performance, management systems, or business plans.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality work and ensuring that standards are met by both yourself and the team.
  • Possess advanced report writing and presentation skills, with experience in client-facing roles.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience managing external client projects.
  • The capability to lead or manage complex project delivery, coordinating multiple workstreams into cohesive client deliverables.
  • Previous exposure to technical due diligence is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Corporate finance qualifications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site visits as required.
  • Knowledge of current reasonable costs associated with Capex (Capital Expense) and Opex (Operational Expense) for engineering assets or projects.
  • Familiarity with decarbonization strategies and technologies.
  • Experience in reviewing EPC contracts, financial models, designs, specifications, and budgets for industrial projects.
