Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting MRI examinations of specified anatomical regions as per physician directives, adhering to established protocols and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess and verify patient requisitions, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared for procedures.
- Screen patients for potential allergies to contrast agents and any metallic implants.
- Communicate the MRI process to patients, positioning them appropriately on the examination table and utilizing the correct coil for the procedure.
- Manage patient scheduling and rescheduling as required.
- Evaluate completed imaging for quality assurance, ensuring images meet the specifications of the requested tests, and provide relevant patient histories to radiologists for accurate diagnostics.
- Monitor patients' well-being throughout the imaging process to guarantee safety.
- Label and document images sequentially with patient identification and pertinent information necessary for radiological interpretation.
- Input examination data into the Radiology Information System and PACS for record-keeping.
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality standards.
- Participate in in-service training and departmental meetings as necessary.
- Perform Radiologic Technologist duties when required.
- Upload imaging data to cloud storage systems.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Diagnostic Imaging Director.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- ARRT certification in Radiology is mandatory; ARRT certification in MRI is preferred.
- Self-motivated with the ability to comply with established hospital/clinic policies and procedures.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours daily.
- Proficient in using standard office equipment, including telephones and computer systems.
- Consistently operates under the pressure of maintaining near 100% accuracy while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Utilizes manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and auditory skills on a continuous basis.
- Regularly engages in standing, walking, and sitting, requiring eye-hand coordination and color perception.
- Occasionally reaches overhead and may lift or carry items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- May walk on uneven surfaces intermittently.
