Facilities Maintenance Technician - Parks and Recreation

Salary Range: $45,799 - $55,000

Are you committed to enhancing the beauty and functionality of public spaces? The City of Falls Church, Virginia, is seeking a diligent facilities maintenance technician to support the upkeep of parks, playgrounds, and recreational venues.

A Facilities Maintenance Technician engages in general, unskilled manual labor that is routine in nature. The role demands physical stamina, and new technicians will receive clear work directives.

Falls Church is celebrated for its vibrant community, exceptional customer service, top-tier educational institutions, environmental stewardship, and engaging community events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain landscaped areas and lawns
  • Collect litter and manage waste disposal
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment
  • Clear snow, rake leaves, and mow grass
  • Utilize basic hand tools
  • Prepare venues for events and restore them afterward
  • Assist with event operations and community clean-up initiatives
  • Carry out related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Ability to read and write effectively

Minimum of one year of relevant work experience

Proficiency in using standard hand tools

Capacity to perform strenuous manual labor on a daily basis

Willingness to work in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

Valid Driver's License

Basic understanding of maintenance tasks

Ability to follow written guidelines

Experience in a semi-skilled labor role

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Compensation & Benefits: $45,799 - $55,000, inclusive of health insurance, pension plan, and additional benefits.
