This position focuses on delivering direct behavioral assistance to students, particularly those diagnosed with autism, in accordance with their Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and demonstrate proficiency in crisis management within an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute Behavioral Plans:
Implement and adhere to Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and guidance from Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to facilitate student growth.
Individualized Student Support:
Offer personalized assistance to students, particularly those on the autism spectrum, in one-on-one or small group settings.
Behavioral Data Monitoring:
Diligently document and report on student behaviors and advancements in line with ABA standards.
Intervention Techniques:
Apply ABA methodologies to address and mitigate challenging behaviors, ensuring a secure and nurturing atmosphere.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate effectively with educators, special education personnel, and other professionals to provide unified support for students.
Crisis Management:
Utilize de-escalation methods and crisis intervention techniques as required.
Effective Communication:
Maintain open and consistent communication with parents, educators, and the ABA team regarding student progress and any concerns.
Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is required.
Alternatively:
3+ years of experience as a Behavioral Specialist is acceptable.
Skills:
A strong grasp of ABA principles and techniques. Competence in executing BIPs and conducting behavioral interventions. Ability to manage and de-escalate aggressive behaviors effectively. Excellent observational and data collection capabilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications:
Current and valid RBT certification is necessary.
Working Conditions:
Monday to Friday / 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Occasional work hours before and after school may be required at the discretion of administrative staff. Physical requirements include the ability to ensure student safety and, in some cases, the capacity to lift a child.
Must be at least 18 years old.
