About the Role

AvalonBay Communities is seeking a highly skilled Lead Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and overall functionality of our properties.

As a Lead Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing problems and making repairs in a timely manner. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior maintenance technicians, as well as conducting preventative maintenance and inspecting community grounds and buildings.

We are looking for a candidate with 3+ years of experience in maintenance work, including knowledge of HVAC repair, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance repair work. You should also have a valid driver's license and be able to accommodate an on-call schedule in rotation with the team.

In addition to your technical skills, you should be able to communicate effectively with associates and residents, and have a strong commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair problems in areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance repair work.
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance technicians.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspect community grounds and buildings.
  • Assist with creating and organizing work orders and general maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure vacant apartment homes and car garages are rent-ready in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of HVAC repair, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance repair work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to accommodate an on-call schedule in rotation with the team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
