Job SummaryWe are seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach in our Addictive Disorders Counseling program. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be responsible for providing quality instruction, creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning, and encouraging free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
Responsibilities- Provide quality instruction and create an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning.
- Teach lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
- Be available to students outside of class.
- Meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors.
To be considered for this position, you must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. This includes a bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience, or a combination of education and other accomplishments that are equivalent to the above.
You must also have evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, culture, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Selection Procedure: The selection committee will review online applications and recommend candidates for personal interviews at SBCC. A teaching demonstration will be required for selected applicants. After the initial interviews have been conducted, the committee will recommend the top candidates to the Superintendent/President for a final interview. The successful candidate's name will then be presented to the Board of Trustees for final approval and authorization to hire.
