Safety Specialist Job Description

The ERM International Group Limited is seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our clients and contractors in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the receipt, review, and provision of feedback on contractor safety-related documents, including Programmatic Safety Plans, Project Specific Safety Plans, Job Safety Analyses, and Field Safety Observations.
  • Conduct site inspections during the kick-off and implementation of medium and high-risk scope activities.
  • Perform Field Safety Observations as established by the frequency and level for each contractor and subcontractor in accordance with the SSSP/PSP.
  • Provide on-site occupational safety support to identify, prevent, and mitigate safety risks.
  • Document and retain safety documents in accordance with client requirements.
  • Take direction from client Supervisors and Management responsible for Contractor Safety.
  • Lead and/or participate in safety incident investigations, root cause evaluations, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate safety information to all stakeholders in an impactful, constructive, and results-oriented manner.
  • Identify existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions that are unsanitary or dangerous.
  • Have formal training to identify and mitigate hazards associated with specific high-risk activities associated with high voltage work.
  • Familiar with Contractor Safety Program requirements, Cal/OSHA safety regulations, and IBEW Red Book.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with electric line construction crews.
  • Minimum two years' experience performing safety observations over contractors.
  • Required to have taken OSHA 30-hour or equivalent experience.
  • Physical demands required for the successful performance of this job include standing and/or walking for long hours in a day on uneven and steep terrain, and possibly during variable weather conditions.
  • Must be comfortable working in remote / rural areas.
  • Personal vehicle and a valid Driver's License are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of Cal/OSHA, GO 95, 128,165, IBEW Red Book, T&D Grounding Manuals, and contractor safety program requirements including TD-1464S.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Fixed-Term employees (including Flexforce) who are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for a limited benefits package. Casual employees are NOT benefits eligible.
