Transportation Planner Job Description

At Changeis, we are seeking a skilled Transportation Planner to join our team at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting projects focused on improving the performance of the nation's transportation system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting background research and literature reviews to inform transportation planning decisions
  • Attending and documenting meetings/conferences on various transportation-related topics
  • Contributing to the development of technical reports, white papers, and presentations
  • Performing data analysis tasks to identify trends affecting transportation needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with 3-5 years of relevant work experience, including internships
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative information into concise, well-organized narratives
  • Data analysis skills and experience using spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Prezi, or Visio
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, with periodic supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting both short briefings and longer technical reports
  • Public finance experience
  • Experience with statistical analyses and software such as R, Python, and Stata
  • Familiarity with program/project evaluation frameworks
