Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Technician to join our team at the Bureau of Land Management. As an Education Technician, you will play a key role in developing and implementing educational programs that promote environmental awareness and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational programs that meet National Science Foundation education objectives and State K-12 Education Benchmarks.
• Collaborate with other agency specialists to design and deliver interpretive and educational programs about resource stewardship skills at trailheads and parks.
• Conduct research to develop and present historic and natural science education and interpretive programs that match BLM mission/objectives with state and national standards for science and history.
• Work as a member of a team to provide and/or revise information about environmental education, interpretation, and scientific research programs through the development of brochures, newsletters, and articles.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Direct Deposit Required.
• Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 level.
• Examples of experience include working in a park or historical setting, meeting with the public or school groups to provide information and conducting tours to explain the importance of the site's historical and/or natural heritage.
• Substitution of Education: Successful completion of 4 years of education in any field above the high school level may be substituted for specialized experience.

Work Environment

• Work is a mixture of indoor and outdoor.
• Indoor work involves long periods of sitting, standing, and walking on concrete floors.
• Outdoor duties require moderate to heavy exertion, such as hiking over wet, slippery, muddy, or uneven terrain.
• Weather conditions range from below freezing to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit temperatures.

Education

• Applicants may qualify for these positions based on experience, education, or an equivalent combination as described in the Qualifications section of this announcement.
• If qualifying based on education, you will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit copies of all transcripts or a list of college courses that include hours and grades from an accredited U.S. college/university.
