POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Lactation Consultant, under the supervision of the Clinical Staff Manager, is responsible for addressing the needs and providing care for families engaged in breastfeeding. This role involves educating mothers, their partners, families, healthcare providers, and the wider community about breastfeeding practices and human lactation. The consultant will deliver patient care, treatment, and services in alignment with their qualifications, certifications, and competencies. All practices will comply with relevant laws and regulations, adhering to established policies and guidelines.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Background

Required:

High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

Professional Experience

Required:

A minimum of one year of experience in breastfeeding support, such as being an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).

Skills and Certifications:

Continuous maintenance of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification is required for ongoing employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Proficient computer skills.
