As a Crime Scene Specialist I with The City of San Diego, you will play a critical role in identifying, collecting, and preserving evidence for police investigations. This entry-level position requires a strong foundation in forensic science and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop latent prints on items of evidence and photograph and collect the developed prints
  • Photograph crime scenes, autopsies, evidence, and related events to assist in police investigations
  • Use digital photography and related software to analyze evidence
  • Locate, collect, and preserve evidence using various techniques
  • Develop latent prints and enhance visible prints at crime scenes and on items of evidence
  • Examine suspects and victims for purposes of evidence collection and photography
  • Testify in court as an expert witness
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a forensic or physical science or equivalent experience
  • 200 hours of experience in one or more of the following areas: fingerprint development, crime scene investigation, evidence collection and processing, preservation of physical evidence, and forensic photography
  • Valid California Class C Driver License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a crime laboratory setting
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher in a physical science
