Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency medical care and transportation to patients in need
  • Operate an ambulance in a variety of conditions, including emergency situations
  • Participate in the care and upkeep of equipment, including ambulances and life support equipment
  • Perform medical and non-medical transfers, as needed
  • Make presentations to schools, civic groups, and public safety agencies, as required
  • Complete reports and forms associated with patient care
  • Testify in court, as needed
  • Attend training sessions and maintain all required certifications
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Requires a good driving record
  • Must be a Florida certified Paramedic
  • Requires certification in CPR and ACLS
  • EVOC certification required within 30 days of hire
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs or hands and arms is also required. Additionally, the ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or running on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces is necessary.

Language Ability

The ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, work orders, logs, technical data, and to speak with clarity, voice control, and confidence, and to articulate information to others is required. The ability to prepare written reports, using appropriate format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar is also necessary.Intelligence

The ability to apply principles of emergency medicine and common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions, to deal with problems involving variables in or from standardized situations, to make independent judgments in the absence of a supervisor, and to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation is required.Numerical Aptitude

The ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, calculate percentages and decimals is necessary.Interpersonal Temperament

The ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions, to perform under moderate to high levels of stress when confronted with an emergency or a tight deadline, and to maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions is required.
