Job Summary:
The Georgia Department of Education is seeking an experienced Audiologist to join our team. As an Audiologist, you will be responsible for assessing and treating children with hearing loss, fitting and dispensing hearing aids, and providing support for auditory training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and interpret comprehensive auditory evaluations to identify hearing loss and recommend appropriate treatment.
- Collaborate with physicians, educators, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Assess the need for and recommend auditory rehabilitation, including medical referrals, amplification needs, and associated therapeutic interventions.
- Counsel clients and families on evaluation findings and recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with referral sources and families to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Dispense recommended assistive equipment, such as hearing aids, and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor progress and adjust treatment recommendations in collaboration with families and healthcare professionals.
- Prepare reports on diagnostic findings, treatment used, and client progress.
- Maintain clear understanding of documentation required for authorization and billing purposes.
- Participate in public information events and education initiatives to promote the Georgia Mobile Audiology Program and State Schools Outreach.
- Provide education and consultation to staff, school personnel, and community stakeholders on auditory disorders and their implications for social/emotional and language development.
- Participate in research studies and conference presentations to advance the field of audiology.
- Supervise graduate students in audiology and evaluate their performance.
Requirements:
- Doctorate or Master's degree in speech-language pathology or audiology from an accredited college or university.
- One year of experience at the lower level Aud/Speech Pathologist 1 (HCP010) or position equivalent.
- Current Georgia licensure and/or certification to practice in the area of assignment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three years of experience as an Audiologist with pediatric diagnostic and hearing assistive technology experience.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to audiological services to students.
- Experience with supervision of audiology technicians, assistants, and/or students.
