Role Summary: We are in search of a committed Information Technology Support Field Technician to enhance our operational capabilities at the LSU AgCenter. This position is crucial for sustaining the technological framework of our organization. Responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of tasks, from installation to troubleshooting, ensuring that our personnel are equipped with the necessary tools for success.

Ideal Candidate: The successful applicant will be a proactive individual with a strong work ethic. They should excel in time management, task prioritization, and exhibit initiative in their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Systems Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance:
    • Conduct thorough installation and setup of computers and peripherals, ensuring optimal performance within a Windows framework.
    • Configure and support various software applications, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office suite.
    • Provide extensive support for mobile devices, troubleshooting and configuring applications for both Android and iOS platforms.
    • Utilize break/fix expertise to address hardware and software issues promptly, ensuring system reliability.
  • Technical Support and Problem Resolution:
    • Deliver expert technical assistance through multiple channels, ensuring effective problem diagnosis and resolution.
    • Employ advanced troubleshooting techniques to enhance user experience.
    • Provide Audio/Visual support for various programs, ensuring high-quality presentations.
    • Assist with meetings and events, coordinating technical requirements and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Networking and Telecommunications:
    • Install and configure networking hardware to maintain connectivity.
    • Assess equipment needs for network upgrades, ensuring secure data transmission.
  • Communication and Documentation:
    • Maintain effective communication with users and team members to facilitate collaboration.
    • Document service requests and incidents accurately for future reference.
  • Research, Training, and Development:
    • Research new technology to inform purchasing decisions.
    • Collaborate with IT colleagues to develop training for users.
  • Travel and Field Operations:
    • Manage field operations across the region, providing on-site support as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in systems installation and maintenance.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with mobile device support.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license for business travel.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Two years of experience in a technical support role.
  • Experience in providing Audio/Visual support.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking hardware.
  • Relevant industry certifications.
