Job Summary

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center is seeking a skilled Pain Management Physician to join our team. As a Pain Management Physician, you will provide high-quality care to our nation's veterans, working collaboratively with the Rehabilitation Care Line and Surgery Service.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise CRNAs and Residents for specified procedures assigned to their caseload.
  • Participate in and/or manage all aspects of a Pain Management Program, including clinical, administrative, academic, and research components.
  • Develop and modify the Pain Management Program, including provision of interventional procedures requiring informed consent and pre-screening, as well as procedural aftercare.
  • Provide anesthetic care for surgical patients, consultation for preoperative evaluations, emergency resuscitation service, and post-anesthesia recovery room supervision.
  • Work with multiple Divisions/Services throughout the facility to improve outcomes and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Nursing and the Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Team to facilitate the operation of the Specialty and/or Clinic to meet common goals.
  • Adhere to physician's schedules and coverage systems.
  • Perform administrative components of patient care management, including documentation of evaluations, progress notes, reports, summaries, signatures, and consultations referrals for both in/outpatients, following facility and Service guidelines.
  • Participate in inter-service rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, conferences, Grand Rounds, TJC/CARF activities, and any other relevant activity to assist Program, Service, and facility to meet its goals/objectives.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in pain procedures and chronic pain management.
  • Experience in working with an interdisciplinary team.
