Loan Collector

The Loan Collector is a key role within our organization, responsible for the daily collection of payment on assigned delinquent accounts. This position requires strong communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Collect delinquent accounts by phone or mail, negotiating repayment schedules with customers as needed.
• Document all collector activity and maintain accurate records within our collection system.
• Produce delinquent/collection letters per established guidelines and work closely with customers on repayment programs.
• Respond to customer inquiries, requests, and problems in a timely and professional manner.
• Process payments and perform skip tracing as required to locate customer contact information.
• Prepare and submit loan accounting system maintenance requests and change in terms.
• Understand and discuss forced place insurance policies, payment changes, and refunds with customers.
• Work closely with investors and/or insurers to resolve delinquencies and maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy changes.
• Maintain delinquency ratios per established goals and demonstrate a strong understanding of applicable federal regulations, policies, and procedures.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; one or more years of experience in a financial institution with a focus on lending, collections, and/or customer service activities preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and negotiate with customers.
• Ability to prioritize work, remain adaptable under pressure, and manage time effectively.
• Self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills, able to escalate issues requiring problem-solving and decision-making.
