Job Summary

The Underground Distribution Journeyman Lineman is a critical role within our Line team, responsible for constructing and maintaining underground power lines from plant/station to meter base.

This position involves performing diversified work, including switching procedures, splicing and terminating underground power lines, setting and working on transformers and other devices, and phasing, marking, and/or tagging equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Foreman with paperwork and crew management as needed.
  • Perform switching procedures to isolate and insulate underground power lines.
  • Splice and terminate underground power lines following proper procedures.
  • Set and work on underground transformers and other devices.
  • Properly phase, mark, and/or tag underground equipment.
  • Set a good example for less experienced employees by following and teaching safe practices.
  • Work as the senior hands-on person on or around energized lines.
Requirements
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience.
  • Class A CDL or obtain within 90 days.
  • Understanding of advanced electrical principles, including knowledge of electricity and how to safely work around it.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to operate efficiently various vehicles and equipment necessary to build/maintain power lines.
  • Ability to assume full responsibility for completed work, perform routine line work without close supervision, and complete work with quality and timeliness.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of experience.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
