Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will care for patients in a 20-bed unit, managing cases that may include:
- Respiratory insufficiency or failure
- Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
- Hepatic and renal failure
- Sepsis and coma
- Hypertensive crises and GI hemorrhage
- Endocrine/electrolyte imbalances
- Cancer and bone marrow transplant complications
Utilizing the nursing process, the RN will provide primary care to patients and their families, addressing a range of complex health issues.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A current Michigan RN license
- A minimum of 18 months of ICU RN experience
Applicants are required to submit a complete resume for consideration.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates may also have:
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in ICU and PACU settings
- Charge nurse experience
- Familiarity with electronic documentation
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
- ACLS or CCRN certification
Work Schedule
This position requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, with shifts available in both 8 and 12-hour formats.
Union Affiliation
This role is part of the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association.
