Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Automated Welding Technician is responsible for ensuring that components are fabricated or processed in alignment with established process control plans while achieving production output objectives. This individual must have the expertise, skills, and capability to diagnose and perform minor repairs on equipment with minimal oversight. The position entails promoting best practices daily through adherence to high standards of engineering, compliance, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Assess the dimensions of completed workpieces to confirm compliance with specifications, utilizing precision measuring tools, templates, and fixtures.


• Halt machinery to extract finished workpieces or to modify tooling, setup, or workpiece positioning, in accordance with required machining sequences.


• Listen to machinery during operation to identify sounds indicative of dull cutting tools or excessive vibration, making necessary adjustments to rectify issues.


• Collaborate with supervisors or programmers to troubleshoot machine malfunctions or production discrepancies, or to secure approval for ongoing production.


• Verify that workpieces are adequately lubricated and cooled throughout the machining process.


• Clean machinery, tools, or components using solvents or solutions and cloths.


• Monitor the performance and uptime of robotic welding operations against productivity benchmarks.


• Oversee the welding robot as it executes fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent complications related to overheating, distortion, expansion, or contraction of components.


• Inspect finished products and spare parts to ensure they meet specification standards.


• Responsible for preparing and configuring the necessary tools and equipment for welding tasks.


• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Quality Control Analysis - Conducting evaluations and inspections of products, services, or processes to assess quality or performance.


• Equipment Operation and Control - Managing the operations of machinery or systems.


• Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.


• Attributes:


• Problem Sensitivity - The capacity to recognize when something is amiss or likely to go awry.


• Reaction Time - The ability to swiftly respond (with hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, image) when it occurs.


• Hearing Sensitivity - The ability to discern or identify differences between sounds that vary in pitch and volume.


• Auditory Attention - The ability to concentrate on a single sound source amidst other distracting noises.


• Near Vision - The ability to perceive details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).


• Arm-Hand Steadiness - The ability to maintain steadiness of hand and arm while moving or holding them in a fixed position.


• Capability to operate a forklift.


• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, manual, or schedule formats.


• Moderate physical exertion is required, including standing or walking for 4-5 hours, sitting for 4-5 hours, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and continuous use of arms and fingers for inspecting or testing parts or tools, assisting, writing, and typing reports.


• Knowledge of and experience with metal stamping products and processes.


• Compliance with safety regulations, including wearing safety glasses and hearing protection at all times on the production floor.
