Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Millwright to join our team at Hood Lumber. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gears, reducers, bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, and valves. You will also be required to cut, weld, and fabricate components as needed, assist electricians and other maintenance personnel, and provide operator relief for process equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems, including hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gears, reducers, bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, and valves.
  • Cut, weld, and fabricate components as needed to maintain and repair equipment.
  • Assist electricians and other maintenance personnel with tasks and projects as needed.
  • Provide operator relief for process equipment and assist equipment operators as necessary.
  • Assist with clean-up mill-wide and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed repair drawings related to sawmill equipment and machinery.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment when required for repair.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience as a millwright.
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Maintenance experience in a sawmill, manufacturing, or other industrial environment.
  • Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Testing Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a mechanical knowledge test and hands-on assessment.
Physical Requirements
  • Performs tasks such as walking, climbing steps/ladders, sitting, and standing for long periods.
  • Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Ability to work outside in all conditions, in and around loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
