About the JobThe Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking current law enforcement officers with two or more years of uninterrupted full-time experience to join our team as Public Safety Professionals.
We are now accepting lateral applications for this exciting opportunity.
This role comes with a competitive salary range of $74,563 to $91,191 per annum, depending on education level and step placement.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in comprehensive training programs that cover areas such as criminal law, firearms training, first aid, traffic accident investigation, human relations, crime scene research, patrol procedures, and departmental policies.
Optional physical training will be available for this program.
Requirements- A minimum of two (2) years as a full-time, certified law enforcement officer with a valid driver's license.
- Must be a U.S. citizen at the time of hire or a permanent legal resident of the United States who is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States armed forces.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and successfully complete medical and psychological examinations.
- Must pass a criminal history background check, CVSA, drug testing, and field training officer program.
- Paid holidays: 12 days per year
- Vacation days: 20 days per year + 3 personal days
- Military leave: up to 20 paid days per year
- Family leave: up to 30 working days per year after six months of employment

- In-service pay supplement: up to $800 per year
- Longevity pay after five years with Metro
- Pension eligibility after ten years of service
- Medical pension eligibility after ten years of service
- Uniform maintenance allowance: $1,000 per year
- Educational incentive pay: up to 9% increase based on degree level

- Shift differential pay for night or morning shifts
