About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in Mitchell, IN. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the overall production process at our cement plant, ensuring optimal efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Optimization: Ensure the production process operates at the highest level, meeting supply demands and maintaining quality standards.
  • Technological Process Management: Deliver a consistently high-quality product at the lowest possible cost by optimizing the technological process of clinker/cement production.
  • Process Assessment and Recommendations: Assess and make recommendations regarding processes and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Modification and Upgrade Management: Monitor and troubleshoot modifications and upgrades to ensure seamless integration and minimal downtime.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports, flow diagrams, and charts to ensure consistent, effective, and well-understood processes.
  • Project Management: Manage annual plant outages and other projects to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to production.
  • Risk Assessment and Collaboration: Collaborate with the team to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Leadership and Management: Manage and lead the production department, including supervising and developing team members.
  • Collaboration with Maintenance and Laboratory: Coordinate with the Maintenance department to plan mill and kiln line outages and collaborate with the laboratory to monitor and maintain quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the production process meets local regulations and permit requirements.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis: Conduct root cause failure analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance the reliability and performance of the plant.
  • Capital Expenditures Planning: Participate in the development and follow-up of the Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) Plan to ensure strategic investment in the plant's future.
  • Best Practices Implementation: Collaborate with the Heidelberg Competence Center (CCC) to share and implement best practices in cement plant operations.
  • Spare Parts and Refractories Procurement: Assist and coordinate with the Purchasing department to ensure effective ordering of spare parts and refractories.
  • Operator and Supervisor Development: Develop the technical and leadership capability of Operators and Production Supervisors to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least 5 years of cement plant operating experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Experience in process and project engineering, progressive responsibility experience in production management, and motivation to be on-call as required.
  • Preferred Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational problems with cement manufacturing equipment, strong PC skills, and experience in dealing with labor relations matters.
