Chemical Engineer Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chemical Engineer Trainee to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in Mitchell, IN.

As a Chemical Engineer Trainee, you will participate in a structured training program designed to provide an overview of cement plant operations. You will work closely with experienced engineers and managers in different departments, including safety, environmental, operations, maintenance, and quality control.

• Participate in production and maintenance meetings to ensure smooth operations.
• Learn basic supervisory skills by working side-by-side with supervisors and production teams.
• Complete assigned project work and performance studies to drive process improvements.
• Participate in various training programs to enhance your knowledge and skills.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Support the operations team in improving plant performance through collaboration with experienced engineers and managers.
• Participate in the Continuous Improvement Program by suggesting changes in routines, personnel, equipment, and process improvements.
• Follow plant and WorkSafeBC Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protection Equipment, and maintain awareness of plant environment standards.

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related field (mechanical or electrical engineering considered with solid academic achievements).
• Prior manufacturing experience or exposure is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to other locations during the training program.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24/7 operations.
