As an Interventional Radiology Technologist at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix, you will play a vital role in our dedicated team.

We take pride in being a Magnet-designated facility, an Academic Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and a Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Our Interventional Radiology Lab is a high-acuity environment, focusing on venous, arterial, and non-endovascular interventions.

Procedures include angiograms, angioplasty, stent placements, neuro coiling, stroke thrombectomy, embolization of bleeds, Y-90 for liver cancer, ablations, and line placements for chemotherapy and hemodialysis.

The IR team consists of highly qualified professionals, including registered nurses, interventional radiologists, neuro-interventionalists, advanced practice providers, and special procedure technologists.

We foster a collaborative culture with Interventionalist Physicians who have been part of our team for over a decade.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the execution of diagnostic and interventional radiology endovascular procedures to address medical conditions in line with departmental protocols.
- Prepare patients and the procedure area, gather necessary supplies, and ensure all equipment is in optimal condition.
- Review cases for required supplies and plan for upcoming procedures.
- Anticipate the physician's needs, providing wires, catheters, and devices as necessary.
- Uphold aseptic and sterile techniques as well as universal precautions throughout the procedure.

Work Schedule: 4x10's; Rotating Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM, with rotating days off.

On-Call Requirement:

Limited call obligation.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves performing specialized radiographic procedures as directed, adhering to departmental policies and protocols to ensure optimal patient care.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Execute radiographic diagnostic/interventional special procedures, following and confirming referring providers' orders, utilizing independent judgment and established methodologies.

2. Educate patients and families about the procedures and treatments, demonstrating professionalism in all interactions and promoting teamwork and quality outcomes.

3. Produce high-quality images and prepare them for timely interpretation, maintaining accurate documentation.

4. Exhibit competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures as applicable, including the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and approved medications.

5. Conduct equipment quality control assessments, troubleshoot issues, and notify relevant personnel to ensure equipment performance.

6. Uphold ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities in radiology practice, maintaining confidentiality of all work-related information.

7. Ensure efficient departmental workflow, monitoring inventory levels to prevent service interruptions.

8. Independently perform prescribed radiographic procedures in accordance with departmental policies and protocols.

All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.

External Customers:
Regulatory and health agencies, patients, and their families.

Effective communication skills are essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate or diploma from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and state licensure as required.
Advanced certification in specialty required within 18 months of hire.
BLS certification.
Clinical knowledge typically achieved with 2 years of experience is necessary.
