Position Summary:
This role is integral to performing radiographic examinations for interventional studies within specialized domains. The technologist will work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive guidance from the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging while not supervising other staff.
- Coordinate daily schedules with radiologists and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Exhibit proficiency in utilizing all relevant aspects of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Order, maintain, and understand the operation of all ancillary equipment utilized in both diagnostic and therapeutic examinations.
- Engage in ongoing education and training, including preparation with the IV team for venous punctures and obtaining certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
- Administer venous punctures and maintain central venous lines during procedures, with readiness to perform CPR as necessary.
- Operate radiographic equipment to generate angiographic, digital, and other specialized imaging outputs.
- Assume the responsibilities of Team Leader in their absence.
- Conduct follow-up observations and monitoring until patients depart from the department.
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring, including setup and maintenance of transducers, physiological data recorders, ECG monitors, and other relevant equipment.
- Manipulate images in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Be available for on-call duties and variable shifts as required by departmental needs.
- Conduct quality control checks on equipment to ensure adherence to proper procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and administer approved medications under the direct supervision of radiologists during diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures.
- Educate staff on the use of interventional radiology equipment and procedures, and participate in research projects under the guidance of radiologists or section chiefs.
- Carry out miscellaneous job-related tasks as assigned.
