Job Description

At Yale New Haven Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately and efficiently pick, prepare, package, label, and deliver medications to the appropriate storage area of patient care units.
  • Utilize appropriate product packaging and demonstrate proficiency in medication distribution and automation/technology processes.
  • Maintain adequate medication inventory levels based upon par levels and ensure proper medication movement through rotation of stock based on expiration and usage patterns.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of medication distribution, including medication distribution and automation/technology processes, and cross-functional proficiency in areas such as IV Admixture, Purchasing, Operating Room, Pediatrics, and Investigation Drug Service.
  • Prepare hazardous-category products with adherence to departmental safety guidelines, OSHA regulations, and/or industry standards.
  • Practice aseptic technique, infection control, and universal precautions as instructed for work area as observed by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree desirable.
  • Successful completion of an academic or military hospital pharmacy technician training course preferred.
  • 6-months Pharmacy technician experience or healthcare experience required, hospital experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
  • Current registration/licensure or eligible for registration (obtained prior to start date) as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of employment, as outlined by the respective State regulatory agencies.
Working Conditions:

The employee may be expected to work on-call shifts, including day, evening, and overnight shifts. The employee is considered essential personnel and is expected to work during inclement weather. The work environment noise level is moderate, and the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
