The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team at The Summit in Alexandria, VA. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our apartment community, including responding to maintenance requests, performing preventative maintenance, and maintaining the overall appearance of our amenities.

Responsibilities

As an Apartment Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for:
  • Completing maintenance work orders for residents, including appliance repair, plumbing, HVAC systems, and minor electrical work
  • Responding to and resolving emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours calls
  • Preparing vacant apartments for rent-ready status
  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the overall appearance and functionality of our amenities
  • Interacting directly with residents to provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintaining logbooks and databases to track service requests and status updates
  • Assisting in monitoring contractor work performance
  • Supporting the Service Manager in meeting budget responsibilities
  • Following and promoting company policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a clean and organized maintenance shop, with adequate stock and inventory of parts and equipment

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced maintenance professional with:
  • 1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in apartment maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Budget or basic business finance knowledge
  • Refrigeration certification (Type 2 or Universal) or obtain within the first 90 days of employment
  • A valid driver's license, free from major moving violations, and dependable transportation

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate will be able to:
  • Use various hand tools and test equipment
  • Bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
  • Push and pull up to 300 pounds on wheels
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders up to 40 feet in height
  • Use a hand-truck
