Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team at Luna Red Restaurant. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests, mixing cocktails, and pouring beer and wine. If you have a passion for mixology and a strong work ethic, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Knowledge: Display exceptional knowledge of our menu and be able to answer guest questions regarding ingredients and dietary restrictions.
  • Wine and Beer Expertise: Display exceptional knowledge of wine by the glass, bottled beer, and draft beer selections.
  • Drink Preparation: Read incoming drink tickets and correctly pour beer and wine if needed.
  • Bar Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and stock product in the bar throughout the shift.
  • Teamwork: Work as a team with other bartenders and the barback, and assist them with any other tasks.
  • Cocktail Creation: Have knowledge of the history and concept of our restaurant and be able to confidently guide guests to our sister restaurants as the opportunity arises.
  • Opening and Closing Tasks: Complete all opening and closing tasks as assigned in checklists.
  • Support Staff: Assist support staff when not needed behind the bar.
  • Cocktail Preparation: Efficiently and correctly mix cocktails and pour beer and wine for guests and service staff.
  • Bar Setup and Breakdown: Correctly set up and break down the bar, and ensure that the next bartender is set for success.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Must be able to comprehend, read, and follow written and verbal direction and communicate clearly.
  • Drive and Initiative: Must have drive and take initiative.
  • POS System Experience: Direct experience collecting payments and operating a POS system.
  • Product Knowledge: High level of product knowledge.
  • Integrity and Attention to Detail: Must have a high level of integrity and eye for detail.
  • Inventory Management: Skilled in monitoring and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
  • Teamwork and Leadership: Must be able to work well with and direct others as a team.
  • Cross-Training: Have the ability to cross-train as a server.
  • High-Pressure Environment: Must be able to work well/excel under pressure in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Multitasking: Strong ability to multitask.
  • Excellence and Self-Motivation: High standards of excellence and self-motivation to complete tasks and to seek out projects.
  • Urgency: Strong sense of urgency.
Education and Experience
  • Certifications: Valid California ServSafe Certification & RBS Certification.
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention: Valid California Sexual Harassment Prevention Certificate.
  • Palate and Product Knowledge: Must have a strong palette, be able to taste batches, syrups, juices with a critical eye, and note changes in the consistency or quality of product at the bar.
  • Bartending Experience: Must have at least 4 years bartending experience or proven experience of any combination thereof.
  • Bar Product Knowledge: Must have strong bar product knowledge and understanding of how to craft a cocktail.
  • Cocktail Creation: Can produce hand-crafted cocktails that are shaken, stirred, and built.
Physical Requirements
  • Stamina: High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods (be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 8 hours).
  • Lifting and Moving: Must be able to occasionally lift, balance, reach, push, and move liquor/wine cases and kegs weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Must be able to perform in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment with attention to detail.
