Counsel Position at International Executive Service Corps

CBO seeks an experienced attorney to fill the position of Counsel, providing legal advice to the organization's management and staff on a broad range of legal issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and analyze legislative proposals, advising on areas of the law addressed in CBO's cost estimates and reports.
  • Provide formal and informal advice on all areas of law affecting CBO's operations, including appropriations, data-use agreements, ethics, personnel and employment, and procurement.
  • Research and analyze complex factual and legal issues, presenting legally sound results in a clear, precise, and persuasive manner.
  • Produce written work products in various formats, including regulations, legal memoranda, memoranda of understanding, correspondence, and draft legislation.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Membership in good standing of the bar of a state, a territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to three years of legal experience.
  • Experience as a judicial clerk or working for a law firm.
  • Experience with the legislative process, the Congressional budget process, or the drafting of federal legislation.
