Job Overview

Davis Behavioral Health is in search of a part-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our dedicated medical team within a reverse integrated care clinic.

Role Summary

The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in assisting the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in providing exceptional physical health care to adults facing Serious Mental Illness (SPMI) and addiction challenges. This position encompasses a variety of clinical responsibilities, including maintaining patient documentation and facilitating an efficient workflow. Candidates with prior clinical experience, strong organizational capabilities, and a commitment to serving these patient demographics are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be tasked with the following duties:

  • Support the FNP or PA in conducting patient evaluations, which includes measuring vital signs, gathering medical histories, and recording symptoms.
  • Prepare patients for medical examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and comprehension of the process.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the FNP or PA.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests and collect samples for further analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Coordinate patient appointments and follow-up care.
  • Provide patient education on health management, medication protocols, and lifestyle changes.
  • Assist in the coordination of care between physical health and behavioral health providers.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and adequately stocked clinical environment.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the formulation of clinic protocols and procedures.
  • Perform administrative duties, including answering calls, processing insurance documentation, and managing patient flow.

Classification

This role is classified as part-time and non-exempt, with a commitment of 20 hours per week.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $18.75.

Work Schedule

The selected candidate will work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

Active certification as a Medical Assistant in good standing is required. Candidates who are pursuing certification and possess relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

  • Experience in a clinical environment, particularly with SPMI and addiction populations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong clinical competencies, including vital sign assessment, medication administration, and basic laboratory testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to educate patients regarding health management and treatment strategies.
  • Preferred familiarity with the specific needs of SPMI and addiction populations.

Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory for this position.
