Position Overview

Deliver nutritional counseling as a key member of the healthcare team, develop treatment strategies, and engage with patients about adherence to programs. Collaborate with the bariatric care team to ensure standard practices are followed. Candidates should possess exceptional customer service abilities. Experience in weight management is preferred but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided for bariatric-specific knowledge. We seek a candidate eager to grow, expand their expertise, and make a significant impact in obesity-related care.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough nutritional evaluations that encompass, but are not limited to: relevant medical history, dietary history, anthropometric measurements, criteria for bariatric surgery, patient readiness, barriers to success, and implications of bariatric surgical interventions.

Offer nutrition and lifestyle education, counseling, and support on both individual and group levels. Accurately document and place orders in the EMR for nutrition-related laboratory data for all patients assigned to the dietitian.

Engage in informational sessions and classes that outline surgical procedures, identify associated risks and benefits, discuss nutritional implications of surgical interventions, and set realistic postoperative expectations.

Provide dietary recommendations in accordance with the latest ASMBS guidelines.

Participate in community outreach initiatives as needed, including health fairs, health screenings, and hospital-sponsored events.

Qualifications

Essential:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Additional Information

Experience in acute care, outpatient counseling, and/or community nutrition is preferred.

Licensure as a Registered Dietitian in the state of Delaware is strongly preferred.

Valid Registration (RD credential) required.
