Key Responsibilities of the Caregiver:

  • Support residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility, in accordance with their personalized care plans.
  • Encourage residents to maintain independence in their personal care routines.
  • Serve meals to residents in communal dining areas or individual apartments, assisting with meal preparation as needed, following established menus.
  • Promote healthy eating habits and hydration while respecting residents' choices, and document any changes in their dietary preferences.
  • Engage residents in recreational activities as outlined in the activity schedule, fostering social interaction and friendships among residents.
  • Maintain accurate daily records for each resident, adhering to company policies; document medication administration, leisure activities, incidents, and observations, and report any significant changes to supervisors.
  • Assist residents with medication management as per established protocols, ensuring compliance with physician directives and state regulations.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized living environment for residents, performing routine housekeeping tasks and adhering to cleaning schedules.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using a Gait belt for resident assistance.

Emergency Response: Follow established procedures during emergencies and respond promptly to resident requests for assistance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Commitment to health promotion and maintenance.
  • Ability to create a safe and effective care environment.
  • Strong motivational skills to encourage residents.
  • Knowledge of legal compliance in caregiving.
  • Excellent bedside manner and teamwork capabilities.
  • Skills in promoting mental well-being and managing pain.
  • Strong listening skills, analytical abilities, and a focus on quality care.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, and bending.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (within 6-12 months of hire).
  • Health Care Registration.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in supporting individuals with disabilities, mental health challenges, or elderly care.
  • Valid in-state driver's license with a clean driving record.
