Position Overview

AAA Life Insurance Company is in search of an Accountant II. This role involves the maintenance, oversight, analysis, reconciliation, and investigation of financial activities impacting general ledger accounts. The individual will manage data entry into the company's general ledger system and other relevant administrative systems. Additionally, the Accountant II will handle and evaluate both internal and external reinsurance transactions while ensuring accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct financial models utilizing the OneStream system as the primary tool for generating financial statements and analyses.
  • Maintain subsidiary ledgers for company operations in compliance with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Prepare monthly analyses and reports.
  • Examine computer outputs to identify discrepancies and errors, initiating corrective measures to uphold the integrity of the ledger system. Ensure accurate reporting of account balances and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Balance and audit accounting transactions across multi-company and multi-state operations.
  • Address issues affecting reconciliations with various business units, departments, and financial institutions.
  • Engage in the modification of existing and new data systems to guarantee compliance with specifications and financial integrity.
  • Prepare audit schedules for internal and independent external audits.
  • Develop and uphold job documentation and procedural guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Execute and create complex financial calculations for analysis or input into the general ledger.
  • Reconcile deposit and disbursement accounts with bank statements and corporate product systems.
  • Process and evaluate internal and external reinsurance transactions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • Two to four years of experience in an accounting department.
  • Proficiency in basic data processing.
  • Experience in balancing ledgers to support systems.
  • Competence in account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Experience in preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and/or SAP.
  • Knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software.
  • Aptitude for researching and analyzing data.
  • Effective communication skills in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within project teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends to meet deadlines.
