Chief Buildings is actively looking for a licensed Structural Design Engineer to become a vital part of our team. This role is responsible for conducting structural analysis and design in accordance with the relevant design standards, material specifications, and customer agreements. The objective is to deliver designs that are structurally robust, cost-effective, and timely. The complexity of projects will vary, with a focus on higher complexity tasks aligned with the Engineer's expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute structural design for primary and secondary framing and connections on building projects.
  • Stay updated and proficient in AISC and AISI material specifications, as well as the latest editions of ASCE 7 and IBC, along with the MBMA Building Systems Manual. Be knowledgeable about various local, state, and international building codes.
  • Ensure clear, timely, and comprehensible documentation of engineering designs and client interactions.
  • Maintain effective communication with all engineering and drafting personnel throughout the design and drafting process.
  • Achieve high productivity with minimal errors, ensuring timely completion of all projects.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, engineers, and detailers to utilize Chief's procedures and products effectively.
  • Provide certification with seal and signature on construction documents in states requiring professional engineering licensure.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Engineering, or a Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Degree from an ABET-accredited program, qualifying for future professional engineering licensure.
  • Licensed in at least one state.
  • 3-5 years of experience in metal building design.
