Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Senior Geologist for our Federal Remediation practice, based in Arlington, VA. This role involves collaborating with a team to execute various federal investigation and remediation projects.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in environmental regulations, geological principles, and site assessment methodologies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the planning and execution of projects for the Department of Defense, focusing on environmental compliance and remediation.
  • Conducting thorough environmental regulatory research and analysis.
  • Developing and implementing effective environmental solutions and best management practices.
  • Engaging with clients to ascertain technical requirements.
  • Preparing work planning documents and technical reports.
  • Leading fieldwork, including sampling and data collection at various project sites.
  • Collaborating with engineers and scientists to fulfill project objectives.
  • Analyzing data sets, drawing conclusions, and formulating risk management recommendations.
  • Managing personal workloads and updating project managers on progress and challenges.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
  • Working effectively both in a team setting and independently.
  • Exhibiting a strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Applying advanced scientific principles and technologies to develop solutions for complex issues.
  • Interpreting and documenting data, conducting analyses, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Exercising significant autonomy in determining technical objectives.
  • Planning and organizing project studies.
  • Assisting in resolving conflicting technical information and procedural issues.
  • Handling complex assignments that often require innovative problem-solving.
  • Potentially overseeing the work of junior scientists.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in geology or a related scientific field, along with 6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Geologist (PG) license is preferred.
  • Experience with the Department of Defense Restoration Program.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental laws and regulations applicable to the Department of Defense.
  • Experience in developing and revising Conceptual Site Models.
  • Experience in drafting UFP-QAPPs.
  • Experience in writing Remedial Investigation reports, Feasibility Study reports, Proposed Plans, and Decision Documents.

Additional Information

Compensation will be determined based on location and individual qualifications.
