About the Role

We are seeking a skilled General Merchandise Expert to join our team. As a General Merchandise Expert, you will be responsible for leading inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. You will also be responsible for executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming experience for guests by authentically greeting them and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Observe and respond to guest needs, using body language and verbal cues to tailor your approach.
  • Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs and providing solutions to their problems.
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
  • Thank guests in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • Be knowledgeable of GM areas to ensure sales floor is zoned, in stock, and accurately signed and priced for guests.
  • Acknowledge guests as you complete workload with minimal guest disruption, partnering with leadership to prioritize daily workload based on business and guest needs.
  • Ensure regular and promotional signing is set accurately for GM categories and be knowledgeable of products in the ad.
  • Execute inbound, replenishment, backroom, and signing processes for GM areas.
  • Execute processes including pricing, presentation sets, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
  • Understand how operational procedures, like planogram (POG) ties, product capacities, and salesfloor quantities impact shortage, profitability, in-store replenishment, and inventory accuracy.
  • Operate power equipment only if certified.
  • Follow processes accurately with attention to detail, monitor own progress.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others, identify and correct hazards, comply with all safety policies and best practices.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes, and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties, such as federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • All other duties based on business needs.
Requirements
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Attention to detail and follow a multi-step process.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
