Medical Scribe Job Summary

The Medical Scribe is a vital member of our team at Twin Cities Pain Clinic, responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. This role involves performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to maintain the smooth functioning of our medical providers' offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accompanying providers into patient examination rooms to transcribe medical histories and physical exams, and documenting encounters accurately.
  • Accurately and thoroughly documenting medical visits and procedures as directed by providers.
  • Ensuring clinical data, lab results, and test interpretations are recorded accurately in medical records.
  • Generating and submitting orders as directed by providers.
  • Completing records by entering and reviewing patient information in electronic medical records.
  • Verifying patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming visit purposes.
  • Answering and returning telephone calls in a timely manner.
  • Cross-training and working in other clinic areas to support departments and staff as needed.
  • Preparing patients for healthcare visits by directing and/or accompanying them to examining rooms.
  • Traveling to alternate satellite clinics as required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous medical field experience or science-based education required.
  • Proficient typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details.
  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work well alone or as part of a team.

Work Environment:

The Medical Scribe will work in a clinic setting located in Edina, regularly standing, walking, sitting, using hands to grasp, handle, or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and smelling. The employee must be able to sit for 90% of the workday and lift or move up to 10 pounds.

Compensation & Work Schedule:

Full-time: 32 hours/week, non-exempt, day shift, Monday-Wednesday, and Friday from 7:45AM - 4:15PM, no evenings or weekends. Seeking a minimum of a one-year commitment at full-time status; cannot accommodate temporary/seasonal employment.
