Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse II - Oncology

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Research Nurse II - Oncology to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a Clinical Research Nurse II - Oncology, you will play a critical role in the conduct of oncology clinical research, ensuring the safe and high-quality conduct of clinical trials.



Job Summary:

The Clinical Research Nurse II - Oncology will be responsible for conducting research screening visits, collaborating with investigators and study team members to recruit and enroll patients on clinical trials, and ensuring patient safety and protocol fidelity. You will also be responsible for preparing for and overseeing the safe conduct of study treatment visits, providing patients with a thorough explanation of a trial prior to obtaining informed consent, and educating patients on an ongoing basis throughout their course on trial.



Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with healthcare colleagues across all units and departments to support the safe and high-quality conduct of clinical trials.
  • Conduct research screening visits, including review of systems, baseline and ongoing AE assessment and documentation, and collection of concomitant medications.
  • Collaborate with investigators and study team members to recruit and enroll patients on clinical trials.
  • Prepare for and oversee the safe conduct of study treatment visits.
  • Provide patients with a thorough explanation of a trial prior to obtaining informed consent and educate patients on an ongoing basis throughout their course on trial.
  • Responsible for good quality source documentation related to research visits, adverse events, and concomitant medications.
  • Support the informed consent process with non-English speaking individuals.
  • Collaborate with the CRC(s) to establish the feasibility of protocol implementation and identify potential barriers.
  • Create, review, and approve protocol tracking forms.
  • Develop and conduct outpatient and inpatient infusion nursing in-services for all approved protocols.
  • Support the safe conduct of elective inpatient admissions for applicable clinical trials.
  • Provide cross-coverage for other DMGs as needed.
  • Respond to queries requiring clinical input or changes to research nurse-generated electronic documentation.
  • Provide timely follow-up to all clinical patient inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintain fluency in disease-specific terminology and standard of care treatment modalities.
  • Provide clinical education to patients on an ongoing basis.
  • Review the Beacon Build Template in collaboration with the Physician Investigator for all trial patients enrolled onto clinical trials.
  • Oversee the clinical coordination of patient schedules ensuring overall adherence to protocol-defined criteria.
  • Provide guidance, training, and education to Associate CRCs, CRCs, and Sr. CRCs.
  • Ensure serious adverse events and other reportable information are reported as per regulatory requirements and protocol.
  • Maintain knowledge of current SOC and protocol-specific side effect management guidelines.
  • Perform medication review, education, and reconciliation.


Requirements:

To qualify for this role, you must have a RN/BSN, New York RN licensure, and BLS. Maintenance of chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification through ONS is required. A minimum of 2+ years of nursing experience in oncology research nursing or oncology nursing is also required. Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management skills, is essential. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills are also required.



Preferred Qualifications:

OCN certification, CCRP, CCRC, and/or CRN-BC certifications are preferred. Experience with EPIC electronic health record is also preferred.

Salary:

The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $124,020 annually.
