School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist to provide high-quality speech and language services to students. The ideal candidate will assess, plan, and implement effective therapy sessions tailored to each student's unique needs, promoting growth in communication and learning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and Planning
    • Perform comprehensive assessments of students' speech and language capabilities.
    • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) based on assessment results, aligned with student goals.
  • Therapeutic Services
    • Deliver targeted speech and language therapy, focusing on articulation, language skills, and communication strategies.
    • Plan and execute engaging therapy activities that support academic and personal growth.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Coordinate with teachers, special education staff, and families to integrate speech and language approaches into the classroom and daily activities.
    • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, offering insights and recommendations for communication support.
  • Record-Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed records of therapy sessions, progress notes, and plans.
    • Prepare reports for IEP meetings and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Continuous Learning
    • Stay updated on developments in speech-language pathology and related educational practices.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Education
    • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure
    • Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in New York.
  • Certification
    • ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred.
  • Experience
    • Experience working with children in educational settings, with skills in creating and implementing IEPs.
  • Skills
    • Knowledgeable in speech-language pathology best practices, with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
