This position can be either full-time or part-time within a school environment.
Position Summary: As a Physical Therapist in a school setting, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate, plan, and execute personalized physical therapy programs for students. You will collaborate closely with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure that students receive the necessary support to thrive in their educational journey.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' motor skills, physical development, and functional capabilities.
- Create and implement tailored treatment plans and objectives.
- Deliver direct physical therapy services in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Track and document student progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
- Work in partnership with teachers, parents, and school staff to integrate physical therapy goals into the classroom.
- Perform screenings and consultations to identify students requiring physical therapy services.
- Engage in IEP meetings and contribute to the formulation of comprehensive educational strategies.
- Provide training and guidance to school personnel and families on methods to support students with physical challenges.
- Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, including documentation and reporting obligations.
- Maintain precise and confidential records for each student.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current state Physical Therapist license.
- Preferred experience in a school-based environment or with pediatric populations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with special education regulations and the IEP process.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
