Job Summary

This position requires a skilled investigator to evaluate cases for compliance with Labor Department jurisdictional programs. The investigator will conduct investigations primarily from the office, with limited fieldwork as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and evaluate wage, earned paid sick time, minimum wage, retaliation, youth labor, and payment compliance claim forms to determine the issues involved.
  • Contact involved parties (employers and employees) to obtain information, documentation, and to clarify concerns.
  • Weigh evidence received to determine the outcome of the case.
  • Provide education and resources to ensure future compliance.
  • Render a written determination with findings of fact, conclusions, and a final order based on the investigative evidence obtained and documented.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques and practices.
  • Ability to analyze business policies, employment, and wage payment agreements.
  • Skills in research and application of applicable statutes and rules.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Logical and analytical thinking.
  • Organizational skills.
