Key Responsibilities
  • Inaugurate new client matters by processing incoming documents, creating files, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Safeguard electronic patent prosecution files, ensuring seamless document management and efficient access.
  • Prepare patent application filing documents, including application data sheets, declarations, powers of attorney, assignments, and PCT requests.
  • Oversee the signature workflow for formal documents such as declarations, assignments, and powers of attorney.
  • Document and submit paperwork to the USPTO, guaranteeing compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Craft correspondence letters for incoming USPTO and international patent office documents, as well as communication with foreign agents.
  • Create office action response templates and handle electronic filings of responses.
  • Prepare information disclosure statements and secure foreign art and non-patent literature.
  • Evaluate incoming documents for prior art to cite in information disclosure statements.
  • Correspond with foreign agents, fostering strong relationships and effective collaboration.
  • Manage attorney dockets and calendars, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are promptly informed of actions taken.
  • Maintain current knowledge of USPTO procedures, staying up-to-date on the latest developments and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 2-4 years of experience supporting litigation practice, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and foreign patent filing and prosecution.
  • Proficiency in Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, PowerPoint, standard patent docketing systems, and standard document management databases.
  • Competence in Patent Center and ePCT.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
