The Senior Commercial Credit Analyst plays a crucial role in providing analytical and underwriting support within the commercial banking sector. This position involves an independent evaluation of the creditworthiness of clients and potential clients. The analyst will collaborate closely with the lending team to assess the risks associated with commercial transactions and ensure comprehensive documentation of these transactions. Additionally, this role includes mentoring and guiding junior Credit Analysts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and thorough credit analyses for commercial loans, facilitating the credit approval process for loan officers or committees involved in lending decisions for new, renewal, and extension loans.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of complex commercial credits exceeding $1.5 million in exposure, evaluating factors such as income growth, profit margins, management quality, market share, industry risks, and collateral evaluation.
  • Engage in customer meetings alongside Commercial Lenders to explore new business opportunities.
  • Participate in discussions with lending teams, market managers, and relevant credit officers to preliminarily evaluate the merits of loan requests.
  • Collaborate with lending teams and credit officers to underwrite and structure commercial loan transactions in alignment with the Bank's credit culture.
  • Manage the underwriting pipeline for new and renewal requests from commercial clients.
  • Provide guidance to market personnel on navigating the commercial underwriting process and interpreting loan policies.
  • Offer coaching and mentorship to junior Credit Analysts.
  • Submit credit approval documentation to the appropriate personnel for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to this role, including the completion of necessary compliance training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Skills
  • Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Effective in presenting information and addressing inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Adept at solving practical problems and managing diverse variables in situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting various instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
Education and Experience
  • A BS/BA degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience and/or training is preferred.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and Financial Spreading Software.
Other Qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
