Counselor (Nashville) Job Description

The Community Services Counselor will provide therapeutic services to clients who are referred or self-identified as in need of therapy services. The Counselor will utilize a trauma-informed care approach, which encompasses a variety of treatment modalities, to assist individuals and families in identifying their needs, strengths, and risk factors, and developing a clearer understanding of the nature of their problems and beginning steps to address them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a trauma-informed care approach to provide therapeutic services to clients.
  • Assist individuals and families in developing a mutual treatment plan and agreeing to a plan of action focusing on safety and self-care, family stabilization, life transition adjustment, and improving communication and other relationship skills.
  • Make positive changes as clients work toward the outcome of improved management or resolution of their mental health problems.
  • Meet performance targets as detailed in treatment plans.
  • Provide training and/or consultation to other staff or volunteers when needed.

Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience working therapeutically with families and children.
  • Play therapy training preferred.
  • Fluent language capacity in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Licensed or license eligible preferred.
