Credit Process Specialist

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $65,000.00 and $80,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Overview

The Credit Process Specialist will play a key role in defining and proposing credit processes and plans to management, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend or host meetings with stakeholders to explain credit practices and determine effective and efficient processes.
  • Prepare credit applications on an ad-hoc basis to address short-staffed situations and urgent complex deals.
  • Manage credit processes, including pending items such as upcoming applications, monitoring, and instruction responses to communicate and remind stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 10-year experience at a corporate bank or other financial institution.
  • Deep understanding of banking products, including loans, stand-by letters of credit, derivatives, and trade finance.
  • Formal credit training.
  • Highly proficient MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural workplace is preferred.
  • Japanese-English bilingual is preferred.
